This site provides information about the Hospital Appeal Board of British Columbia (HAB), an independent, quasi-judicial appeal tribunal.
The Appeal Board is established by section 46 of the Hospital Act. The HAB provides medical practitioners with an avenue of appeal from hospital board of management decisions affecting hospital privileges.
This website is intended to provide information on the mandate and appeal process of the HAB. The Appeal Process section provides information on how to initiate an appeal, access to the HAB Rules and Practice Directives, links to the legislation and other resources that may be helpful.
The Reasons for Decision section provides links to current and past HAB decisions.
See the Board Decision Publication Policy for information on the legal requirement for the disclosure of board proceedings.
We respectfully acknowledge that our office is located on the traditional lands of the lək̓ʷəŋən (Lekwungen) speaking peoples on whose ancestral and unceded territories we offer our services. We recognize that our work extends across the homelands of the Indigenous peoples of what we now call British Columbia.
